The UN Climate Change Conference, COP30, takes place from 10 to 21 November in Belém, Brazil, with the overarching aim of accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The Swedish Climate Policy Council will be represented on site by its chair, Åsa Persson. In addition, the climate transition platform Panorama will be showcased in Sweden’s official pavilion.
Åsa Persson will take part in the inauguration of the Swedish pavilion as well as in meetings and events within the International Climate Councils Network (ICCN). She will contribute as a speaker in several sessions highlighting how science-based knowledge can support the implementation of the Paris Agreement, how national climate councils can contribute to delivering countries’ climate plans (NDCs), and how policy can be translated into practical solutions in food, land, and agriculture.
As in the two previous COP meetings, visitors to the Swedish pavilion will be able to explore panorama-sweden.com, managed by the Climate Policy Council in collaboration with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Energy Agency. Panorama visualises Sweden’s climate transition and presents a possible pathway to net-zero emissions by 2045, based on more than 70 identified mitigation solutions.
Sweden’s official pavilion is led by Business Sweden, which during COP30 brings together Sweden’s non-negotiating delegation to strengthen the country’s position as a partner in the green transition, foster collaboration, and showcase climate solutions that can advance international cooperation and the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
