Associate Professor at the Department of Thematic Studies – Environmental Change, Linköping University

Mathias Fridahl is an Associate Professor at the Department of Thematic Studies – Environmental Change, Linköping University, and affiliated with the Centre for Climate Policy Research. His research concerns climate policy across different levels of governance, from local contexts to large intergovernmental organisations such as the EU and the UN. His work focuses on how laws, institutions, and actors both constrain and enable effective decision-making.
Mathias actively engages in collaboration with companies and public authorities. In recent years, he has contributed to the Swedish Climate Policy Inquiry, represented Sweden in the IPCC, and served as an advisor to the Swedish Energy Agency’s work on international climate initiatives.

Report launch 2026 – save the date!

On 19 March, the Swedish Climate Policy Council presents its annual report at an in-person and web-broadcast seminar (in Swedish). The report contains the Council’s assessment of the Government’s overall policy with regard to the climate targets and recommendations ahead of the next electoral term.
