Chair, Swedish Climate Policy Council

Åsa Persson is Strategic Advisor and Researcher at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology’s Climate Action Centre, as well as Associate Professor in Environmental Change. She was previously Research Director and Deputy Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute. Her research focuses on the interplay between international and national policies for climate and sustainability. Previous research has addressed the choice of policy instruments, coherence in environmental policy, and international politics on climate adaptation, planetary boundaries, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. She has had several advisory roles to the UN, including serving as a lead author of the Global Sustainable Development Report 2023 and currently as a member of the UN Committee for Development Policy.

Report launch 2026 – save the date!

On 19 March, the Swedish Climate Policy Council presents its annual report at an in-person and web-broadcast seminar (in Swedish). The report contains the Council’s assessment of the Government’s overall policy with regard to the climate targets and recommendations ahead of the next electoral term.
